If you ever want to train in person I am in Fredericton, Canada but if you are not local I can always email you a program. Thought I would do 4 weeks of 2 warm up, 2 to fail just to really jump start the system. I prefer to lift for strength, not size/definition...size interfers with my golf :) It would be at this point that I would need some guidance...your phone will ring!martynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4412217048881657756.post-47844031230650744012011-01-21T16:52:27.122-04:002011-01-21T16:52:27.122-04:00All depends on your goals! As long as you are only doing 1-2 work sets you can push to failure. BUT failure has a range. Failure of the positive movement is first, then a static hold and when that fails a slow negative, then a partner can re-lift and do multiple negatives. But everything depends on your goals. So positive failure for 1-2 work sets is okay as long as you have long rest periods/days off. BUT going to total muscular failure on every set of every workout will only lead to burnout of the nerves and mind! That is of course a general answer, all forms of training have their place in the right context. What are your goals and experience with weights Marty?Andrew J Cutler Ph.D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14635544488661710663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4412217048881657756.post-65462430409328923532011-01-21T15:55:15.986-04:002011-01-21T15:55:15.986-04:00So, I just re read you posting...let me ask this. ...So, I just re read you posting...let me ask this. Having just returned to the gym to lift, I am currently working under the idea of lifting every set to failure (after an appropriate warmup). Decent results in only 3 weeks...any words of caution?Martynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4412217048881657756.post-57623450773806570442011-01-21T15:51:41.578-04:002011-01-21T15:51:41.578-04:00When I did my MED I did some readings into early &...When I did my MED I did some readings into early "teachers", so some of this is familiar, certianly not to your depths, but still, I could read it all day!Martynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4412217048881657756.post-83351869202408173782011-01-21T15:12:56.940-04:002011-01-21T15:12:56.940-04:00Thanks Marty-any questions? fire away! Thanks Marty-any questions? fire away!Andrew J Cutler Ph.D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14635544488661710663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4412217048881657756.post-71202649591570681322011-01-21T13:08:48.588-04:002011-01-21T13:08:48.588-04:00Looks good so far...I check it everyday!Looks good so far...I check it everyday!Martynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4412217048881657756.post-42759741953351930032011-01-20T17:14:48.861-04:002011-01-20T17:14:48.861-04:00Thanks Jennifer! Thanks Jennifer!Andrew J Cutler Ph.D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14635544488661710663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4412217048881657756.post-44216570702708203152011-01-20T16:34:45.467-04:002011-01-20T16:34:45.467-04:00i'm excited to keep up with this blog...philos...i'm excited to keep up with this blog...philosophy and fitness information: great combo!Jennifer Lopezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00254929106803260596noreply@blogger.com
